Got a 8 3/8 nickel 57. It's one of my favorites. That perfect in between of power versus recoil.

Mesquite is from my ranch. Per Keith, the only pair he has ever done in that wood. I will hunt whitetails with it, this coming season. The Blue Book says that nickel adds 25% to its value and P&R another 10%. Add the grips by Brown and you have a pistol to pass along to your kids.

Any 57 is worthy for passing along to the kids, but yours IS very nice.
I have one of the last of the 57s made in the early 90s. When I went in to my LGS to order it, they said there were no more to be had. To their credit, they did a bit of searching and found me a blued gun...just didn't want a 657. Mine is a 6" and has no pin or recessed chambers, but it's very serviceable. I have a 3-screw .41 Blackhawk for carrying and it's a lighter and more compact gun, but my 57 is going nowhere!

Any of you guys know how much a 27-2 is worth , nickel Smith did not make a 27 with a 8" barrel. If you have a 8-3/8" barrel $750 + 10% for the 8-3/8" barrel. No bonus for nickel on this model.

That's just what a book says. There is ALWAYS a bonus for nickel with S&W pre-1982 revolvers. The only issue is that 8-3/8" barrels will not sell as quick as shorter barrels in any caliber (the trend these days are shorter barrels) so for instance in 27's the desirability is 3-1/2", 5", 4", 6", then 8-3/8". Collectors tend to favor the 5" over the 4" even though there are far fewer 4" 27-2 revolvers as they were only made late in the 27-2 production run. A 97% 8-3/8" 27-2 in nickel, in the 2 piece blue box (assuming that's what you have since you didn't say wood presentation case) would easily be worth $1000-1,100, $1,200 if you have the wood presentation case. Now those are collector prices, if one was wanting to sell it quick it would probably have to be at $900 or so. I paid $1200 for a new unfired blue 27-2 8-3/8" in the 2 piece box.
And to stay on topic that's a beautiful Model 57 you have their OP! Let me know if you ever decide to sell, I absolutely love the 41 Magnum pinned and recessed revolvers.
