Hunted public land since WMA opened up just down the road. Over the years heard the rumors of the crack houses, & such. This thread not ta scare or detour others from hunting. Rather give credit ta Game Wardens S3 - E5. The land is open ta the public, & as pappy once said: hunters are the eyes & ears of public land. Stay Safe, if ya huntsolo let someone know were ya be at, or take a friend. Most are rumors, accidents do happen. Proud supporter of WMA.

I inadvertently hunted close to the pot fields they found at Cooper WMA and White Oak Creek WMA's. You're right, you need to keep your wits about you any time you're in the woods.

Hunted both places, walk-in, using canoe & boat. Affordable hunting. Safe hunting.

Agree you never know whats going on anymore. I live in a rual area and constantly go check cars and trucks parked near our farm. I don't mind them nowing I'm writing down plate numbers either. I don't harass them I just park behind and began writing the numbers down. Bad people sometimes look for quiet places to do bad things. I just let them know it's not that quiet around my place. Always becareful when out and about in the WMAs.

colt.45, I too am a proud supporter of the WMA. Wish I could win more often. The $48.00 permit makes ya a winner. Hunted several of the WMA's. Used the hog hunts ta do hunt & scout. Used topo USA ta do at home scouting. Wrote down cordenances, used copier ta down load my maps of area. Gps. Had pen & small pocket note pad ta write down findings for future hunts. Have 3ta4 note pads full of findings. Helps with draw hunts. Had set up S of house for deer hunts. Last of wild frontier. Did the lease hunts, got on them cause of the 24-7-365 hog hunts, made it worth the $200.00 lease fee. Basicaly what i call execative hunts. Sit in box stand, over looking feeder & food plots & wait. The bucks patterened the hunters. Still enjoy going out, finding sign, hanging tree stand, or self climing. Old school. Easch their own. Best Wishes ta all on the up coming hunts. Edit : pigplinker, thats what i liked about old system. Ya signed in, had ta write licence plate #'er, & give info of what ya seen & shot. Hunters are the eyes & ears.
