I found an old Lyman reloading book from the early 80’s in my book case. I had forgotten about it. It had a bunch of old targets from shooting sessions at Hot Wells and at Carter’s Country. Just another example of us keeping the good groups. The best was, per the notes on the target, a .47 inch group, using those Nosler 60 gr SBBT bullets in my 220 Swift with the new Douglas barrel. I wonder if those bullets were tougher than the 60 gr Nosler BTs of today. I tend to think they were, but i have no factual reason to believe that.

Back then, the only bullet i used in the 220 for deer and pigs was the 63 gr Sierra SMP.

I think they were tougher also or at least the nose was a little more controlled on expansion than the BT are. I still have a few of the 60gr Nosler SBBT bullets and they for a long time were my go to bullet for deer with the 22-250. Well remember one doe that was shot at about 200 yards the bullet was expanded to .4 inches and weighed 32gr, I thought that is pretty good for hitting shoulder, rib, clip back bone and rib then under hide on high shoulder shot.

The 22 cal I am most apt to deer hunt with these days is a 22-243 and eit is usually loaded with 75gr Swift Siroccos for hunting

My pre 64 FWT 243 that Dad bought for Mom in '55 loves 100gr Nosler Solid Bases (and almost nothing else) I still am hoarding a couple of boxes.

In the 80s, I used the 120SB in a 264, 100gr SBs in a couple of 257 Roberts, 130gr in 270 and 120gr in 25/06. Nosler really pulled the rug out from under me when they discontinued that line.
