Wyoming has approved its first hunt of grizzly bears in 44 years. The hunt this fall will be the biggest in the lower 48 states since the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed protections for grizzlies in the Yellowstone region in 2017. The hunt's rules will allow up to 22 grizzlies to be killed in a wide area east and south of Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks. The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission heard from hunt supporters and opponents before voting unanimously in favor of it Wednesday. Supporters say Wyoming's grizzly population can easily sustain limited hunting. Hunt opponents question that claim. Idaho has approved hunting one grizzly this fall. Montana has decided for now that it will not allow grizzly bear hunting.Wyoming approves 1st grizzly hunt since 1970s (link)

Neat. Wonder what the tag costs? Non res draw 6k Res draw 600 You could draw a primary zone tag and not actually get to hunt if sow quota’s gets met early

Good for them. They have far exceeded the anticipated recovery numbers and need to be culled.

You can draw a tag outside the DMA also. The sow quota was lowered to 1 in DMA. Some guys have stated they would hunt all season for the right one bear if drawn, that would keep other hunters out of the field until they fill their tag. Only be one hunter in the field at a time, because of sow quota. If drawn you will have 10 days to buy your license. Some great big boars on the east side of the parks, with some great big bull bison. New area to hunt the bison there. It will be interesting to see what outfitters will charge for a hunt. You will be issued a GPS during your hunt. G&F is already willing to help out, so outfitters will be useful for the wilderness areas but perhaps not needed with outside wilderness hunts. Good luck guys, if it gets to happen big boars should be taken.

Great! Would love to do this hunt, considering going to the Penninsula.

You miss the vitals and they will eat you. I'd be carrying a BIG caliber pistol, and a very large knife!
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
