I’m working up in Iowa and Idaho this week. I’ve been hearing some stories from my customers about the awesome pheasant hunting and hear the Quail are coming back in Iowa. I have some invites to come back this fall to hunt some private land. That’s a long way to drive with dogs. The people are great in the heartland. Have any of you hunted this part of the country? The deer up here look like cows.

I use to go to the Pella/Oskaloosa area for a long time pheasant hunting. Don’t miss the chance. Always good. 13 hours 1 way. We would drive it in one day, dogs and all.

It seems that the quail hunting in Tx is going to be miserable this year,,, you may wind up with a lot of interest from people that would not normally be interested.

I grew up in Iowa, hunted a lot near Adair on our farm West of Des Moines about 40 minutes. We would bump a covey of quail every year it seemed, no more no less, and the pheasant hunting was great. I still drive up every year I can and hunt a few days on the farm with my dad, then stop off in Kansas to duck hunt a few days and loop home. It's a leisurely 1 day drive up, great for a 4 or 5 day trip.

What part of the state would you have the opportunity to hunt?

I do it the first week of December every year. Mainly a deer trip but I bring my GSP and do a bunch of pheasant hunting also. 12 hour drive to NW IA. Clay County.
