Let’s see what y’all have for gym at your house. I hate going to gyms because of my work schedule and amount of people there. We have a split garage with a good sized single car stall that I’m going to put some basic equipment in. Bench/incline/decline/squat rack, dumbbells, pull up bar. That prob it to start with.

Give me some ideas on affordable flooring and pics of what y’all have

Your best value in flooring will probably be the 4’x8’ rubber stall mats from TSC

I stole this off the Nextdoor app for $300 including over 500lbs of weights last month. The dumbbells, bike and ab machine Ive just picked up over the years. This is a good time for all the New Years people to unload the stuff they bought. The big mat came out of a truck I bought, guy was using it as a bed mat.

Thanks,

Against the wall is the squat machine(dont have a good pic of that side), the 2 45s on the lower left above the cinder blocks control the weight for the lat pull down. I think thats what you were asking, it kinda all gels together from that angle.

My home "gym" is minimalist. I utilize a lot of body weight/gravity movements in my training anyway. If I want to externally load I go to our local rec center.

Missed the part about the flooring. Agree that the best value is the stall mats from Tractor Supply for quality and durability. Have used these in training and rehab settings and they take the 10 hour/day punishment.

I live alone in a 5-bed house. I have a treadmill and a "Total Gym" in one room, heavy and speed bags in the next, and free weights in one. All from garage sales. I think I have about $300 total invested. The "Total Gym" looks like a toy, but if you use is right it can be a workout. Just got off the treadmill. I paid $50.00 for it. It's a Nordic Trac and goes for about a grand. I boxed for years in my youth so the best workout for me is the heavy bag.

I just have free weights, elliptical and a treadmill out in the shop. Nothing fancy.

I try to go three 3-minute rounds a few times during the week and an 8 or 9 round on the weekend. A minute between rounds. It's great for legs and cardio and it helps not being punched back at!

By the time you buy all that equipment you could have a gym membership for years

Neither matter if not utilized. If you know what to do you don't have to spend much at all AND forego the monthly fees of a membership to the sweat shop social clubs.

Also consider what your goals are before you spend money on equipment that might not be great for reaching those goals.

Very true and a great point. It helps to consult with a rehab or reputable fitness professional who can assist with those decisions. The fitness industry is not regulated so reputable is relative.

Had a Bowflex and did not like it at all, so I just picked up some light weights 5-35 lbs. and a bench and enjoy all of the different exercises I can do. Time to get a couple of 50 lb dumbbells up

Today chest and Biceps, start out stretching with 5.lbs then 3 sets of 15 reps starting with 25 lb, then 35, then back to 25, same with the biceps.

At 62 I am not trying to get bigger, just maintain strength without to much effort.

Not bad for an old fart?

I am 5' 10 3/4" and typically weight between 210 -215, today 212 lbs. Would like to weight in at no more than 200 lb but my love for tasty food keeps getting in the way laugh

I recently started working out again. Been hitting it 6 days a week and eating healthier. 41 yrs old, 5' 11", and somewhere between 220-225 now down from 235. Goal is to get back down to my in-shape 205-210 weight and back into 34" jeans (was in 38's) and MAINTAIN. Have an injured shoulder that I have re-injured several times before trying to start working out again (was scheduled for surgery but didn't do it). So, this time I am being extra careful and slowly working my way back up. Anyway, been working out religiously at offshore gym (at work), but will be getting my home gym set up next week when I'm home and will post pics. I bought a fully loaded home gym CHEAP that has just been sitting in a garage for a few years. Ol' boy I bought it from said he got sore putting it together so wanted to sell it, because he doesn't like being sore after all LOL. Have that, an extra bench and some dumb bells, and a new treadmill. I'm picking up a new bench and some more weights next week too. Home gym might take a little buffing & cleaning up but I only paid $350 for the thing. I believe he said he paid around $3,000 + for all of it.

You guys have some nice used scores...right now I am just focused on wearing out some running shoes

Getting back into running. Trying to run 4-5 times a week. Main focus is to get the hear stronger and shed some weight. Then will move into plyometrics and finding things in my garage to lift
