While back bought a Dragon Fire 357 Sig barrel for swapping in my FNX40 and after firing to get the hang of it, really starting to like this caliber.
If your also using this round would like input on which ammo your using. Taking some critical defense to range this week to see how that works

Now I lay me down to sleep
Besides my bed a Sig I keep
If I should wake to you inside

Havrn't ised it in defense but a 125gr gold dot factory load worked very well on a Mississippi buck from a SIG 239 at close to 10 yards

We used Speer Good Dots for a couple of years on duty, we have all switched to Hornady Critical Duty.

White dawg, what length barrel do you have? The Critical Defense was designed for barrels under 4 inches. Critical Duty is for 4 and over

Thanx for info, it’s a 4”, wasn’t aware there was a difference between Defense and Duty
What I have is Hornady Custom 147 gr. Will put the gold dot on the try list

I liked .357 sig, but it became clear it wasn’t gonna stick around so I ditched it and kept the 9mm. Speer Gold Dots for me as well in the .357.
10mm is making a comeback though and does anything and everything the .357 does and more.

You won’t see many 10mm in the hands of law enforcement. From what I gather, that’s what brought on the creation of the 357Sig.

I think the 10mm brought on the .40S&W. They kept watering it down to improve scores and finally shortened it. I just purchased a P229 with .40S&W and .357 Sig barrels. It's a bit more accurate, for me at least, in the .357 Sig format. I'll be watching this.

edited to add:. I'll be reloading for the range, but carrying factory of some sort. Not sure what yet.

Edited again to add: Of course, a caliber can bring on more than one new one. I really don't know. The 10mm to .40 is the one I've read the most about.

Slow Drifter, you are correct. I was referring to the 357 Sig and didn’t finish typing my thought. The 357 Sig was brought on because they were phasing out wheel guns but you had a lot of guys that liked their 357mag. That’s what brought around the 357.

Is that the Slow part?

Kidding. I didn’t make my point very clear

Pay attention to your rounds before you shoot them. 357Sig isn’t easy to load for and can crush a lot of the necks. That’s the problem we were having with the Winchester white box, crushed necks and the bullet seated to far down.

I had this issue with some Remington hollow point factory ammo. Anytime I would chamber a round probably 50% of the time when I would eject it the bullet would be pushed back into the case. After switching to the Gold Dots I no longer have that issue unless I chamber the same round over and over and over.
