How much pressure am I likely to encounter on public land in northeast Texas? On a good morning in a good spot, how many birds are you likely to hear gobbling?

Not sure about normal public land hunts, but I would recommend putting in for a draw hunt. I was drawn a few years back at Pat Mayse and heard plenty of birds, plus being a draw hunt there were less hunters. Not sure how many were successful, but I did get a nice bird. Good luck.

That thought occurred to me as well. I’ll throw my hat in the ring when the times comes and maybe I’ll get lucky.
