Watching trigger Time TV show, This expert is shooting pistols at steel targets, brings the gun back into his chest, then looks around for like the boogie man or something creeping up on him, WTH is he looking for??

I don't know that TV show, but what you described is standard training in some circles.

Yeah, it can look downright robotic, but part of the reason is break the human tendency to have tunnel vision on the target that you just shot. As BP just said, there may be other threats and losing track of them can be deadly.

Forcing the "look left, look right" after you KNOW that your target is down, can improve situational awareness in many situations.

I know what it is, I just get such a kick watching all The TV shows with all the EXPERTS doing this with a HUGE SCOWL on their face. Most would crap their pants if faced with a real armed bad guy.

Brings up another thing that gets my goat. On these TV shows, One will dump a mag or shoot rounds at a target, always scowling. I thought shooting was supposed to be fun??????? smile ani
