But for all the other cynical dick heads, I can now understand why so many people turn off the THF.

I get tired of all the smarta$$ answers here too, however their are so many wonderful people here who give the absolutely best advice

People took their time to give good advice. You can ignore comments you don't like. Are you going to answer the questions folks asked like where is this and what wildlife are you wanting to benefit?

Northeastern Erath cty, near Lipan, I believe. That area has some red sand with postoak, blackjack and lots of greenbriar. Deer eat greenbriar with a vengeance. It's also high in protein. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

I would like to give advice but the trees I know the most about, do not produce a fruit or nut for deer consumption. However if you just want something that is cheap to grow, and will just make a place look different, provide shelter and such, try looking into Virginia Pine. Its mostly popular with the timber industry and Christmas tree farms. A bit of Google research and you can find more than you may ever need for a cheap price.

http://texasforestservice.tamu.edu/WestTexasNursery/

there used to also be a nursery in Indian Mound, (Native American Mound) Texas, but they closed it and now the west Texas one is the only one

they have a list of trees and prices on the site, but it appears to be broken right now or perhaps they are currently sold out

they have other info for some programs as well, but contacting your county extension agent would probably get you more info
