OK, I've been researching these things, never liked them, so I challenged myself to figure them out. I have developed a couple of recipes for them that are actually delicious, and I surprised myself. My last batch was among the best. I seared them in a cast iron skillet in bacon grease and coarse SPG, then finished them in the oven at 350. When they got a little soft, I removed them to a serving dish and deglazed the skillet with red wine and blackberry preserves. It made a beautiful glaze of honey consistency that I poured over the sprouts. Served them up and they gone.
You can also saute them with bacon ends and pieces, finish in oven, then make your glaze with Balsamic vinegar and raspberries. Use your imagination, but IMO. it needs a tart berry to make the flavors unite.
Don't be afraid, try them and surprise yourself.

Yes, I never cared for them years ago. But someone made them with bacon and onion and they were good. I made them Sunday night. Chop up a sweet yellow onion and half a container of bacon. Cook them up where the bacon is done, about 10-15 minutes. Add in your sprouts cut in half or into 1/4. Cook them on medium to medium high heat for about 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Add in any flavoring you want. I add in garlic powder and a balsamic glaze. They are awesome. My kids love them, too.

I like em. But i hated them for most of my life, until a business trip to Ecuador. I was the lunch guest of a fellow that supplied us gasoline blend stocks, and he also was a Rose importer to the US, and had farms. Anyway, he offered to order for the both of us, and i went with it. One of the veggies was Brussel Sprouts, and i cringed but ate one. Wow! Now the wife cooks them like that - steamed, then a butter and lemon sauce. Even the grandkids like them, which should tell you something.

We always just put them on a cookie sheet with Olive Oil, salt/pepper, and some pre-cooked bacon. Put them in the oven at 400 for about 15-20 minutes. I'm gonna steal the glaze though, that sounds awesome.

love them most ways cooked ... steamed is probably our main go to style but have tried other methods. One similar to yours, but sprinkled Parmesan cheese over going into the oven.

What I normally do is half them, put in a pan drizzled with olive oil, bake, sprinkle with shredded parmesan, back in oven just long enough to melt the parm. However, since I've never been a big fan I've been getting bored with that. You're recipe is very timely and I will certainly try it out.

I like to cut them in half and mix with oil, garlic and parm. Then bake until a small hint of crispness on the outside.
