Is he a "house buck" i.e. He gets a pass or do you have a target age before he's available for harvest

I like looking at him and if he wants to live out his life here he is welcome to do it. If he wants to leave he knows how he got in and can take the same way out.

He is a very nice looking animal, glad he gets to hang out and get his pictures taken, thumbs up.

I don't know which is more impressive....that phenomenal rack or his girth!! That is one healthy mature Axix buck.

He sure does look thick, must be eating good!

They are just big animals. If it doesn't start raining soon he may start loosing some weight. I think he is about to quit growing his antlers. They look like they are starting to shrink in diameter. I don't think he will ever be much bigger than he will be this year. He is just an average Axis.

With good rainfall, he may surprise you over the next few years. Sure is nice to have a 'walking trophy' in your pasture. It's hard to believe horns grow so fast over four months. Three prongs on each side with long brows. I think he might just be a little more than average. Keep your photos comin'. Hope you don't mind me showing again here. Beautiful animal.

He has been missing lately then a couple of days ago I saw him and he had broke one of his front legs at the joint.

I sure hate to hear that. Have enjoyed watching this magnificent animal develop. Nature ain't for sissies.

That is why we kill them, no such thing as preservation with critters only conservation. Pretty cool pics tho!

He will most likely survive unless coyotes can run him up into a fence corner. It was not bleeding so he most likely won't get an infection. Quite a few years back my son shot an Axis Buck LF that when we processed it found that at sometime in its life had broken the big bone in one of his hams. The bone slid past itself about 3 inches and then fused itself back together. So now one of its back legs was shorter than the other. I messed up and did not keep that bone. Would have been an interesting conversation piece.

Haven't seen him in a while. Has a real good limp now.
