I took Pig_Popper (Ben) with me this week down to Bosque County again to deal with some hogs. We took down 6 hogs with Grendels, but Ben's gun had a problem with the ejector (see very end of video). In the mean time, we killed a boar with the best cutters that I have seen in a long time and killed a smaller boar that had been shot "just behind the ear" previously and had survived. It has survived because that spot doesn't have any vital anything, just muscle. Ben said the open wound smelled really bad. I have no idea why he smelled it. It was a good hunt, lots of strategizing, moving, and a fair amount of shooting.

Some more good video, more hogs taken out of the breeding pool, and interesting narrative to accompany it all!

I bet that one boar had a headache.

DNS - It was another successful hunt and thanks for the invitation!

Here are a couple of added viewpoints for the hunt to add to the well produced video you made.

All Quality Assurance shots were done "on the hoof" i.e. two shooters 1 hog, there were no additional QA shots necessary which speaks to the effectiveness of this approach. While we did this inadvertently (took the shots available to us) I did feel the need to mention QA based on our last hunt wink

The malfunctions - well.... On the ride out to hunt I may have jinxed myself by telling you how absolutely fantastic this specific rifle has been operating, I believe I actually stated it is cycling like butter (hot knife through butter). So the first malfunction should have been a MAJOR red flag but I didn't think much of it. When clearing the second malfunction (after the 3rd boar) on our way to get the group I changed magazines and again experienced a stoppage. Bottomline, I shouldn't have assumed the gun would behave any differently after the first malfunction and short of a field strip I should have inspected further - it did end up effecting my ability to hunt as seen in the video thereafter - lesson learned.

Lastly, you're on a roll my friend - your shots and hunting methods are excellent and I always come away learning from our hunts!

oh and I didn't purposely smell the rotting wound of the 2nd boar - While knelt to inspect your shot I moved the ear and discovered the open wound and was met immediately by a repugnant smell from 3 feet away (I was downwind).

sick

but just wanted to clarify that my counselor has cured my bad habit of smelling dead pigs for fun cyclo
