Decided to wait till I was done to post this one up. Found this Steven's 410 breakover in rough shape at the lgs. The price was right so i Decided to make it a youth for my son, 6 years old, since I have some chamber adapters for 410 to 9mm luger. Figured it would be a cheap way to train him and not have to buy 410 shells. Anyway I tore it all the way down, refinished the stocks, cut the barrel down to 18.5 , coated it with VHT ceramic. All done except to recap for the front bead sight, have to buy a smaller tap set, also debating a clamp on fiber front sight. The finish didn't come out the way I wanted, was my first time with vht and when I baked it on I got lines from the oven racks (should have hung the parts by wire from the bottom of rack, slap myself on the back of the head). I figure after a few years of him learning and beating the gun up I will sand it down and re-coat again. Enjoy the before and after pics. Picture of coating and varnish cans if curious as well.

Good work, and I'm sure your son will enjoy a rifle that his dad "made!"

Nothing like taking something old and making it new again. Added bonus when you teach a youngster what goes into keeping the heritage alive. Good work.
