Hey all,
I am just getting into reloading and have a few different books and often there doesn't seem to be much consensus on the best powder for reloading the 22-250. Bullets will range from 60gr - 75gr.

What is a good powder to get me started?

Varget is solid with lighter bullets. With the heavier I would go a little slower.

Amarillo Hunter, it'd be nice if you could find a way to get the 55 grain Nosler E-tips to shoot in your fast twist rifle with H-Varget.

The bullets are on sale right now at Bullets.com

There is some footage in the hogs section of the E-tips being shot from 22 Nosler (slightly slower than 22-250) and doing a number on goodly sized animals.

Bullet is a solid so no flaking of particles into the meat and even bullet opening at the higher speeds..........

I'll be following closely if you give those a whirl as I'd like to try experimenting with that bullet specifically in the faster twist 22-250 barrels.

Looks like Varget gets the nod.

But, Pig_Popper...have heard that all copper bullets can foul up a barrel pretty quick with the velocities that a 22-250 can push.

Barnes first offering in the X-bullet was just that--all copper, no bands or "grooves." They soon improved 'em with two or three bands to reduce fouling. Seems like the metallurgy of most major bullet makers has made the X's and GMX's, an effective, lethal pill.

Ordinarily I pass on lead free all copper and prefer bonded (jacket to core) styles

But the Etips are nearly half price at the Bullets.com website because they’re going out of business, so for that reason I figured it’d be worth the experiment

I need Cabelas to run a $299.00 special on the Ruger American again to get ahold of a 1x10 twist barrel, it could be awhile ...

It’d be nice to hear of results with the 1x8 twist with that bullet

Whittaker’s Gun’s also has an exclusive run of 1x8 Ruger Americans but at a higher cost...
