Looking to build a 300 blk out ar15 pistol to use with a suppressor. I am thinking about a 10.5" barrel with pistol length gas. Looking for advice on complete uppers, and tips if I decide to build. How important is adjustable gas block for a suppressed ar? Recommendation on barrel length/metallurgy.

I am going to mainly use it as a sporting rifle and short(under 100 yards) distance hog hunting.

I have a complete upper purchased from Aero Precision, with a 8.5" barrel. I like the large diameter (on a short rifle) and the way it interfaces with the receiver and barrel nut. Very simple and rigid. It's big enough to not have any worries about mounting clearances if you're hanging stuff off the end of the rail with the can tucked in a little bit. Important with limited real estate.

I would strongly recommend an AGB. They've got way more gas than they need to reliably cycle supersonic loads with a suppressor. Tuning for your loads makes a big difference.

I just bought a 10.5" 300 blk out pistol to use. I'll be putting it through it's paces really soon at the range.

Just buy a PSA or Radical complete upper and be done with it, probably be under $300.

My favorite is a PSA 10.5". It's all factory except for the trigger, and it shoots cheap factory Remington UMC supers and subs great. I probably have $450 in it without the trigger, light and optics.

If you want to shoot subs also dont think adjustable gas block will work, of course if you leave it all the way open, but then again, why have one.

I have seen that exact upper set up on PSA for a very reasonable price. But doesn't that handguard create issues for a suppressor to be added?

I am building the pistol for subsonic only. I have plenty of ARs and don't need another gun to shoot supersonic with. Any suggestions on gas block set up for subsonic suppressed?

Yes. A standard gas block will do fine. If you go adjustable, open it up all the way.

Also just FYI if you're planning on SBRing it don't run the LWRC Micro Stock, awesome stock but takes a proprietary spring and buffer which do not cycle subs.
