So I was at the lease turkey hunting last weekend. On the way out I run up on 10 axis bucks in a group. I've never seen any on our place before. 9 were in velvet and one (the largest) was in hard antler. I watched them graze for 30 minutes or so. Only had a shotgun
They were on a winter wheat patch. What are the chances of seeing them again? I was told they travel a lot.

Yes, they travel a lot. That was your one shot. But, just in case, what have we learned here? ALWAYS carry a rifle.

Did you at least get a turkey?

I hunted a place in Pipe Creek that had axis all around the 400 acres that I hunted. When they came onto our place we had a about two days to get them, then they moved on.

They'll be back, especially if you throw some alfalfa out

In addition to the alfalfa, try a cow elk call and "chirp" on it, especially if you hear a buck "roar".
