Well, Buds has caught on how to not be the best place to buy a gun.

1. Now they have "Team Bud's" you pay a FEE to have first shot at any "hard to get" gun
2. Then , when you buy, if you don't buy their "insurance" your gun ships whenever they "get around to it" instead of immediately upon payment.

So for an extra $50+ you get your gun sooner. B.S.

I ordered a Dan Wesson Specialist 1911 march 28th. I paid with Electronic check (they have my money) Gun still has not shipped. Its sitting on some ahole's desk punishing me for not paying all their premiums.

I'm not in a hurry, that's why I did it this way, just P's me off what these companies are doing to squeeze us for more $$. I know capitalism.

You cant find the "cool" guns local where you could just buy it. The $$ just about breaks even buying in person if you get a good price. Most local retailers seem to have a $100 pad on guns to begin with.

Oh well rant over

Team Buds has been around for a long time. I've bought a lot of guns from Buds in the past. They've never been extremely fast at shipping especially when using an ECheck. My G19 should be at my FFL today, but it sat in the "processing room" for about 4 days before it got sent to shipping and then sat there another day.

Also think a lot of gun shops are being hit with a lot of extra sells right now because of the gun ban BS talk. Which I think slows them down right now.

Sometimes it has taken 10 days or longer for me to receive a purchase from Buds. They are pretty slow on the shipping side. However, free shipping and no tax makes it okay with me.

Yep, also some pretty good prices. Got a Gen 4 G19 with Night Sights for less than what most box stores have the regular G19s priced at. Plus you have to pay tax local, adds up quick on a big purchase.

Yes sir, local tax does indeed add up.

This. No sales tax is huge. FFL transfer with Guns for Gals in McKinney is only 10.00. Win win.

Yep !!

I bought the Dan Wesson Specialist, no real discount on this model, pretty much paid retail but free ship and 0 tax is good.

I pay $25 transfer from Frisco Gun Club

He77 it all equals out. I will buy used but the stuff I like is hard to find used.

You can buy it at Cabelas and walk out with it. Of course they will bend you over on price and by the time they call your number Buds will ship it.

And don’t accidentally check the wrong box on the computer either. I’ve heard ATF will arrest you on the spot for that. smile

Once you buy from Whittaker's you'll throw rocks at Bud's. Whittaker's excels at customer service.

Prices don't suck either.

I put an order in on Saturday and it's supposed to be at the FFL tomorrow. Pretty awesome.

Went ahead and got a Ruger AR-15 for investment purposes - will plan to sell when the dems get in office and ban them.

I'll start by saying I use online gun companies because all of our LGS (except one) are OUT OF SIGHT on pricing. Their choice to price that high, my choice to shop elsewhere...

I used to use Bud's almost exclusively. They are slow to ship. Their new guns used to be cheap and their used guns even cheaper.

Recently, I give Whittaker's a look first. FAST shipping, and they work with manufacturers to get the non-cataloged guns that people want. Their prices are excellent, as well.

One recent example. When shopping for a Tikka T3X Lite SS 6.5CM, I first looked at Whittaker's. They were out of stock. Everyone who had them in stock was from $710-770 plus shipping. When I finally located it at Bud's (under Beretta JRTXB382... another peave, but I digress) it was $649 shipped. I ordered it. Two days later, their price went up to $748 and has stayed at that price. In the mean time, Whittaker's got them back in stock. Their price is $628 with free shipping.

That Tikka took about 10 days to arrive from Bud's. My last Whittakers gun was at my FFL in 4 days.

I ordered a couple "in stock" mags from Brownell's that took 3 weeks to deliver. Order on-line and take the risk. Buy local and pay more. Often times though specialized products that we want can't even be had locally. Deal with it.

I would say that making an in store purchase allows you check the gun before you buy it. However, the stores are getting very strict on what you can touch and how you can touch it before you buy.

I give the local shops a chance to price match and they always do, even Cabela's (at least before Bass Pro bought them, have not tried since).

It is important to keep gun stores visible and viable employers in our communities.

I'm typically this way as well. But often they just don't have the items in stock and don't have a way to get them. When they do and they'll match price, I will pay the local sales tax just to give them my business. Ammo Depot in Caddo Mills has taken very good care of me over the years.

My local guy can get just about anything I want for reasonable prices. Can’t get Beretta/Sako though. He can get Tikka.

Just an FYI, there is no such thing as no tax. You are supposed to be declaring and paying those taxes as a Use Tax... which is what I believe you all meant above.

It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

If I understand correctly, it was determined long, long ago that there would not be sales tax on interstate transactions, which the government at the time did to promote interstate commerce. That's why you typically pay tax when you buy online if the company you're buying from is located in-state, but you don't pay tax if they aren't.

If there is any type of sales tax on those items, I expect the vendor to collect it just like they do when the sales tax is actually applicable on in-state transactions. If they don't collect it, I assume that's because no tax is necessary.

All in all, I'm just glad to see we have an IRS team member on the forum. I bet you aren't a Ted Cruz fan?

What Toxarch is saying is that Texas requires you to pay tax on it when you receive the item. Don't hate on the messenger, hate the message.

What I'm saying is that I disagree.
