The pistol stage is not for points right? I was down in the woods this weekend killing hogs and before I left I shot some practice rounds and fun shooting. I figured I need to practice my pistol skill and boy was I right. 17 rounds at 25yds, looks like buckshot from 125.

One is not for points, but it's burning up the clock. You have to hit the pistol targets before going to your rifle, and those are for points. The other pistol stage is for points.

I suggest you practice...

As usual, I agree with FJG.

For the guys with CHL/LTC’s, the pistol stage should be a stage to gain ground on competitors. If not, why not?

Outside of a match, the average guy around DFW is more likely to need to make a good pistol shot than a 6.5 CM to make a 800 yard shot.

Chad and I talked about this right after I announced the pistol portion. I said "I bet most of the competitors, and those bitching but not even showing up, have an LTC, yet they're all butt hurt about having to shoot a pistol. Well, ya gotta driver's license, do you bitch about having to drive?

A good reality check would be everyone should have to shoot a few shots from concealed carry, perform a reload and shoot a few more including time and score.

Try the FBI QIT 99 target at 5 yards, which is about the length of a car in a parking lot. Most civilian engagements are 3 - 7 yards. Shoot 3, reload, shoot 3, in 12 seconds. Score it. Or the most basic proficiency standard is 3-3-3. Draw from concealed carry at 3 yards, 3 shots, in 3 seconds. Same QIT 99 target for score.

Hopefully, folks might practice and it might save a life someday.

I don’t have a LTC but I carry every day and shoot a lot when I can. I don’t shoot for tiny groups. I shoot for speed, practice reloads, and get all rounds in a silhouette from 50yards and in.

That FBI qual ain’t chit. We go from 10 yards, draw from the holster when target turns, shoot 5 reload, shoot 5 reload, shoot 5 in 15 seconds. It’s really easy to keep it in the 10 box. After the first 3 it’s just point and shoot. Pick up the front sight via your peripheral vision with both eyes open.

BP you cant shoot a pistol for chit. If this pistol target is past 10-12 yards I may be slightly miffed. Just saying
