I'm putting together a suppressed Adams Arms 14.5" piston upper for killing pigs. It has a 1:7" twist so I can run as heavy a bullet I want, and I want it to dig deep on body shots. I will be reloading for this rifle, though possibly running some factory ammo as well. What are some good 70-75 grain plus bullets that you guys have seen work well on pigs? Seems I have heard some folks talk about the 75 Hornady BTHP working good, maybe the 77 SMK or 77 Custom Comp as well.
While you fellas are at it, if there is a particular powder you think works well in this application then mention that as well.

Sierra Gameking 65 grain Barnes TSX 70 grain
Both have proven to be deadly on hogs.

I have recently loaded 75gr Hornady HPBT for that apllication and I used CFE223 because I have quite a bit of it and load on a progressive. Varget/TAC/AR Comp/Reloder15/ IMR 8208/Imr4166 all work well with the heavies.

I think Speer makes a bonded 77gr soft point. But won’t swear it. Been a long time since I had time to fool with it.

reloading section can also get more input, powder. Have had great success with the cheap factory 55gr hps & fmj on hogs. Close range shots, not best blood trail for heart lung area, most blood stays in side cavity. Best wishes. Only reloading i've done was my .357 mag

I think that bullet is one I would like to try. Of the powders listed above, which have been the cleanest burning in your experience? I have shot 4166 in some other things and thought it was pretty dirty unless pushed really hard.

I have used a lot of BLC-2 with the heavier bullets, not too dirty. I have also used the 75 gr. BTHPM with cannelure some on game. I followed my own advice on shooting hogs with the 5.56, always go for CNS hits no matter what you use and your success rate at recovering hogs will be pretty good. I have had very good luck using the Federal XM193 loading. A copy of the Vietnam era 55 gr. FMJBT. This bullet will break up and still get pretty good penetration, seems to kill better than you would think it would, still think solid CNS hits when your making the shot.

Hornady #5 Turkey Shot apparently works well. I took two pigs with it on a James Daughtrey Turkey Hunt.

Sierra 65 Gr Gamekings , push them as hard as they will go, Don't worry about Groups, because you'll be shooting Close range at night on Hogs.

Why heavy? Fifty 5 gr SPs work fine
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

Thanks for the advice guys. I got my rifle cerakoted and built up late last week, then took it out Friday to zero and get some brass to load. Saturday made a couple trips back and forth to my range at work (just 5 minutes from my house) and got me some loads tuned up using the 65 SGK and a max charge of W748. The rifle likes it, shooting hard and accurate. The last 3 zero shots with it hit the 4" orange dot I was using to zero with at 200. Not bad considering no scope, just using a Burris Fastfire with a red dot that is really bigger than I like. Rifle is light and fast though, it is going to work very well for night work on hogs. Adams Arms 14.5" piston upper with pinned brake, VooDoo barrel, Spikes lower, Magpul MOE SL stock, Burris Fastfire II. Cerakoted in Burnt Bronze. I still have to swap the grip, move some rail sections around to suit me, add swivel flush cups and sling. But it is about 90% of where I want it. Very nice rifle.

Why can't Hornady just make an ELD-X 75 grainer and fix all our problems? There is a 70 grain Accubond but not sure if it is available yet. It will likely be pretty expensive for dumping mags at pigs too.

Thanks for the complements guys. I am really enjoying this little rifle. Gonna do a changeup on the optic, and already swapped out that factory grip for a Hogue. Hope to put it on some pigs this weekend.

Due to many requests for heavy bullet 223 ammo, I added these to my ammo options. All of these good, heavy hunting bullets would work well. 64 grain Nosler bonded bullet 65 grain Sierra Game King 60 grain Partition https://dallasreloads.com/product-category/rifle-ammo/223/

64 Bonded is another good option for sure. Terminal performance is spot on. Price isn't bad if you watch Shooters Pro Shops and catch the blems on sale. We have shot some in my daughters CZ-527 for deer. It shot them OK, but not great, probably because of the 12 twist and a throat that has seen better days. They worked for the distances she was shooting. I may have to give them a try in the pig gun. They would be great for big pigs, maybe a little hard for coyotes. Not sure they would expand fast enough to get consistent bang-flops on a skinny dog, though I could be wrong.

I've had good luck with Hornady Superformance 75gr. BTHP Match. I don't reload for .223/5.56 but these factory rounds have been very accurate in my coyote gun and I've killed several pigs with it too. My main pig guns are both 6.8 SPC though.

I stopped loading exotics for hogs. 55gr FMJBTs and 25 grains of H335 does the same as 24 grains of TAC and 75s....puts them on the ground when you put cross hairs and dots on the their high neck.
Nice rifle BTW.
