Wasn't someone, I think firemanjg, going to get a loaner and do a review on the new Nikon black x1000?

Did I miss it or has it not been done yet? I couldn't seem to find it.

Thanks.

Have not heard back in several weeks. They may have not got any in just yet. I will send an email to the Nikon rep today.

I'm very interested, I'm in the market for new scope and the FX1000 (FFP) is on my list but want to see an impartial review.

Looking forward to a review as well. I like what I see in promotional literature...would like to see real world impressions.

The FX1000 is just now hitting the market, you can buy them online. I've read a couple of other reviews, looks pretty good.

Just re-read the email from the Nikon rep. He told me the scopes should be on the shelves in April. I will give it a week, and check in with him. I will let him know that several of yall are awaiting a field test and review.

I hope it's not TOO far off topic, but it occurred to me that a scope like that could be just fine for LR work. If the target's far enough away to justify dialing, then it ought to be far enough away to justify full magnification also---16x should be very good. Being one who does not like the size of the reticle to change, that is a scope I'd be very willing to consider---pending a good wringing out. Looking forward to your report, JG.

I have played with 2 of these. It's a decent scope from what I could tell. The turrets dialed very easily, maybe a little too soft. But for a basic scope to dial for elevation, it seems to work just fine. Their reticles were nice. I like a basic mil or moa standard reticle without all the crazy lines or lines that have no standard spacing.

Last I heard was he was close to getting some in stock to send. I'm about ready to give up on them.

My brother bought one of the Nikon Black x1000's 4-16 I think non illuminated Mil. We got it mounted up this weekend on a Rem 700 long range in 30-06. In 4 shots we cut the center of the bull with some factory rem ammo. Have goodies to get a load worked up for it and cant wait for a new project, the rifel shot really nice and for an '06 with 180's didn't seem to kick much at all.

The scope was clear and crisp and from using the reticle to measure adjustments seemed to track well. The only thing I didn't really like is that the turrets are pretty easy to turn, much easier to turn than my first gen vortex. We didn't have the tool with us to set the zero stop so haven't done that yet. I think it it were up to me I would be looking for a way to lock the windage turret, they were pretty easy to turn.

Wonder if there is a way to adjust the amount of force required to turn the turrets.
