If want a long drive and some great scenery, perhaps find some sheds come up to Shirley Basin Wyoming. Many long range shooters and prairie dog shooters hit it up. Has hosted many magazine shoots also. Miles of public land and plenty of pd's. They usually bring reloading equipment for loading in the field and shoot all day.

There used to be someone on THF that had a place in the Panhandle that guided prairie dog hunts. I think there was also one in New Mexico.

I think Jeremy stopped atleast in Texas. National grass lands axed it to protect blk footed ferret.

He is a great guy and top rated outfitter. Never seen a complaint or bad review on him

False. Prairie dog shooting is still allowed and there are no ferrets. Now, most of the dogs have been eradicated due to bubonic plague.

I stayed at Jeremy's ranch 2010 to 2016, each year, consecutively. We didn't need him to guide, so we went out on our own, and did very well every year until 2016. There were Ferrets in some units for 2015 and 2016 and those units had feeders feeding prairie dogs. The biggest dogs, and highest numbers I've ever seen. And hunting those units was forbidden, due to the ferret also being in it. But also in 2016 the plague wiped out, in my estimation, 90% of the dog population. For the first year, I came home with over 50% of the ammo I had loaded for one rifle, and 100% of the ammo for two other rifles. I checked with Jeremy last year, and the dog population had not recovered, so we did not go for the first time in 8 years.

JG they actually never turned any ferrets out. The units they closed were in an attempt to feed the prairie dogs a vaccine to prevent the plague in hopes they could increase the population in hopes they would have enough prairie dogs to warrant the release of the ferrets. Their experiment was a flop and the prairie dogs got the plague on both the "vaccinated" and unvaccinated towns. Which is good for both shooters and ranchers like myself that border the Grasslands. The last thing we need is an endangered ferret running around.

All towns are open for shooting now but the population is pretty sparse from what it use to be. They still need a year or two I'm guessing.

You told us off limits on those units. Another rancher or hunter told us Ferrets in those units. Looks like we were told wrong by the second source.

And yes, introducing them is stupid.
