Looking for on game experience with it. I have a 6.5 Creed but curious about any of the eld-x's. Please list the cartridge and how well it performed for you. Whether you hit the shoulder or behind it. Exit wounds? Pics would be great also.

I shoot 6.5 creedmoor Weatherby Vanguard, use the ELX-D ammo... Shot one this year at exactly 100 yards, was slightly quartered to me, did not make the best shot, hit back of the lung, dropped him in his tracks, good exit hole - was very pleased with performance.

Only one kill so far with 143 grain ELD-X out of new Savage 6.5 CM. My oldest stepson shot a blackbuck doe last month at about 80 yards. Behind shoulder, complete penetration with a half dollar sized exit. Hope to have some data on speed goats in September.

I've shot two animals with a 308 Win using 178 grain ELD-X (2518 fps - 20" barrel). One was a bobcat behind the shoulder at 220 yards. Huge exit wound; will never do that again - was not planned. The second was a large water buffalo (bent a 1/2" gambrel). First shot was behind the shoulder at under 100 yards. Second shot was through the front of the chest from around 50 yards. Neither shot exited (no surprise) but there was ample internal trauma. If this was planned I would have been better prepared with a more appropriate caliber. This is the combo I am using for spring black bear in Arizona this year.

I've shot a handful of game animals with my 6.5 Creedmoor (2681 fps - 22" barrel). One boar (my first animal with the ELD-X in any caliber) I hit behind the shoulder around 100 yards. There was a softball-sized exit wound and it removed just about every internal organ. On another boar (around 100 yards) I did a high shoulder shot. Instant death and did have a small exit wound. Shot a Coues whitetail at 525 yards quartering away. Hit behind the shoulder and had a silver dollar sized exit wound. I shot a nice axis buck at just under 200 yards quartering away. Hit behind one shoulder and it did not exit; was barely peaking through the hide on the off-side shoulder. I have shot about 50 jackrabbits (200-300 yards) with "explosive" results; great for long range practice under field conditions. I've shot close to 20 coyotes (50-350 yards). Exit wounds have varied based upon angle and distance.

Not sure how they do when they hit a shoulder at different distances as well as different sized game; lethal as hell behind the shoulder though.

My 11yr old has been shooting a 6.5CM for 3 years, first year I loaded berger's then went to the ELDx 143. He shooting a 26'' barrel I hand load with lapua small rifle primer brass and H4350 and the loads are pushing 2780-2790, I got it to 2800+ but groups opened up at every seating depth I tried. Honestly either one will make easy work on deer, pigs, yotes, sized game, he hasn't lost anything yet with the ELDx's some of the bigger pigs ran up to 100yds same with berger. If I had to choose one or the other I'd go with berger but that just my opinion.

I use the 200 ELD-X out of my 300WM. Have them coming out at 2900. Shot Aoudad at 301 yds and had full pass through lung shot. Went hooves up. Have never seen one do that on a one timer. Shot placement couldnt have been better but it hammered it. Same rifle mule deer at 125 high shoulder and it went DRT. Results for me in this setup couldnt have been better. Im sold

I've killed two deer with my handloads using the 143 ELD-X. First shot was 80 yards with my 14 pound target rifle. Not much drama. The bullet hit about a quarter inch from the spot I was aiming (heart) and it never took a step. Also shot a spike with the same load in my Tikka CTR, again straight through the heart, and the deer managed to travel about 10 yards before falling over dead. Of course that 10 yards put it square in the middle of a bunch of prickly pears, so it got a good cussin' even though it was dead.

I have probably seen at least 50 head shot with the 143gr out of 6.5 creed this yr. Deadly is all I can say most DRT. So impressed I am taking them in my 300 WM to Africa in June.

I've shot 2 hogs with my 300 WM using the 212 gr ELDX. First one was 175 lb boar at 100 yds. First hit was broadside behind the shoulder, golf-ball size exit. He flopped around for a few seconds so I hit him again, didn't move after that. Second hog was a 225 lb sow quartering toward me. Hit the shoulder and was DRT, no exit.

Using H1000 in my Savage 111 LRH has true 1/2 MOA accuracy with the 212s. I just shot it this weekend at 572 yds while working up a load for my 6.5X55. Only fired 3 rounds and got a 2" group.

Before I get blasted, I know 3 shot groups don't prove accuracy but I've fired a bunch of 3 shot groups from 100 to 700 yds with this gun/load and its consistently under .5 MOA.

I probably wouldn't do that, but that's your business. Africa is a special place for sure.

I am not worried at all about them. I have shot 27 different species of plains game already. With everything from TSX, A frames, Bergers, & even junk PPUs once I ran out of ammo. They are not bullet proof like everyone believes. Only time I have been disappointed in a bullet was a 300gr accubond on lion.

OK. My comments had nothing to do with you personally. I've shot 50 animals in Namibia myself, with many of the same bullets you listed, even the PPU's (worked great). I also agree 100% with your comment on those animals not being bulletproof. When you hit 'em where you're supposed to, they die like anything else.

I'll be very anxious to see how those ELDX's perform. Take some pics if you recover any, if you don't mind.

Who are you hunting with?

30-06 178 ELDX, 1 bobcat from about 20 yards most of cape was unusable. 1 coyote from about 60 yards, shot through the butt and exited the chest with a hole big enough to put his head in. 1 pig at 100 yards, fist sized exit hole. 1 doe at 50 yards, fist sized exit while. The pig was the only animal that ran after being hit.
