Went out to Best of the West range in Liberty Hill this afternoon to teach what Chad, Jason, lots of you guys and YouTube have taught me about long range to a coworker. Even though I qualified at 250, 500 & 750 in December of '16, they made me do it again. 250 & 500 were no problem. 750 gave me trouble because my dope was a bit off and the target was more exposed to the wind but got it figured out. Took one shot at 1,000 then they called cease fire so I had to wait. Range is hot, so I get back on the rifle, try to remember where the last splash was and correct for wind, 2nd shot was just off the plate. My next 2 shots hit the plate at a GRAND!

To say I was excited was an understatement.

Shooting a Tikka T3 Lite 300WM, shooting 180 gr Hornady SSTs from Chad's magic bench.

I can't wait to go back, hopefully it's not another year!

What size plates do they use when you qualify?

Congratulations on qualifying.
Maybe Today.

The plates are pretty generous in size. I think at 750 and 1,000 they are 24"x36". 500 is a bit smaller and 250 may be 16"x20". They have smaller targets at each distance but let you qualify on the larger ones. Seems like they mainly want to know that you are familiar with your equipment, capable of making adjustments and able to get close, especially past 500.
