Started the weekend a little early last week- went out Thursday afternoon to the ranch. Got up in the box about 6:30 and a couple of hours later this boar showed up.
Then, a little while later, I see something in the edge of the field. This skunk is stumbling around- his tail would flop back and forth, and it would fall over each time. I quickly calculated the potential trajectory of the vapor cloud (since he was upwind) and nailed him with the 6.5 Grendel. A huge cloud showed up on the night vision scope so I yanked the gun in and slammed the window shut. Only got a bad whiff or two. He must have been sick, or rabid, and I wasn't going to take chances with leaving him wandering around.
Set out the coon traps to try and slow the onslaught on my feeders.
Then, Sunday morning, I went to feed the cows. They all came barreling through the mesquites and this group of juvenile pigs ran in with them. They stopped about 15 yards from me, standing up on an idling 4-wheeler, and milled around a bit before moving off. Of course, the one time I was without a gun all weekend.
