Routier Outfitting in the northwest corner of South Dakota still have a couple Whitetail hunts available.
www.huntsd.netWe do both archery and rifle hunts for Whitetail and they are fully guided with your lodging and meals provided on private land.
Archery hunts are five full days of hunting and rifle hunts are four full days of hunting.
Archery hunts are $1500 plus tax and if you get a shot an additional $1500 plus tax. Rifle hunts are $3500 plus tax.
Archery hunters use blinds, tree stands and spot and stalk. Rifle hunting is mostly spot and stalk.
Archery season starts the third Saturday of September and goes until December 31 while rifle season starts the second Saturday of November and goes for 15 days traditionally.
Archery licenses are guaranteed even though you have to send in a application and cost $386 with no deadline.
Rifle licenses can be applied for in two different drawings. The first drawing is in April with a cost of $505. The second drawing is in June with a cost of $386. The difference in the drawings are the first one is good for one any animal on private land only and the second one is species specific good only for this unit. Between the two drawings your chances of drawing a Whitetail license are pretty darn decent.
You stay right at the ranch with a modern house and home-cooked meals or restaurants. You just need to show up with your hunting equipment and everything else is provided.
We are one of the farthest places East to hunt some pretty decent mule deer and the Whitetail really get overlooked.
We have a very healthy Whitetail population right now you can realistically expect to see and have chances at anything between 130in and 145in. The biggest Whitetail we have ever taken scored just shy 170in.
I will post some pictures of what we took last year as well as some trail camera pictures and a shed we just found. Feel free to get a hold of me with any questions.
