Had a quick morning hunt, managed to shoot a couple on the run in the brush. Biggest one was hit in shoulder and no recovery. This one took it through brain bucket and dropped. Not sure if bigger one would have gone down w/in sight with my 6.8 or not, still not convinced if the 300 bo is great or mediocre or not good. After about 100 hogs I should know.lol
Just like Jesus, sometimes you gotta kill some hogs. Lone Star Mesquite . com RattleSnake Dan's Shredding Service

Im not a fan of the 300 but I am a fan of seeing a hog on the ground with a true hunting rifle like an AR being used.
Nice hog!!!

I've put a few down with my 300 BLK. I use it selectively for shorter ranges. In large open fields I lug my AR-10. Good work Dan, Keep After 'Em!

300 blackout is my go to caliber for hog hunting. I have killed tons of hogs with it no problem, and actually killed a 300lb boar with one shot this week.
The key is shot placement and the bullet you're using. You can aim center mass on a hog with a non expanding bullet and expect it to roll over.

Killed a number of hogs with my 300Blk. Wouldn't call it a hammer but when I hit one where it should be hit - it dies. Sometimes suddenly and dramatically, sometimes it runs a little ways and I shoot it again. Sometimes they get in the brush . Ben thinking about moving the Photon over to one of my 44mag lever guns just to see if I get a better bullet to kill ratio. Honestly I figure I get a pig to about every 3 rounds after dark with the 300. Shoot- they run, keep shooting and roll a couple. But thats part of the fun once you pull the trigger and they take off. Squeeze and keep shooting...

If you want photos to show off to your buddies. I wouldn't use anything smaller than 6.8. Preferably go with 308. WE shoot 1400-2500 308 rounds a month on hogs. It adds up real fast!!!!
