What are your favorite bullets for varmints and for deer? I do realize these will be two different bullets. Want to work up some loads but have never loaded that round before.

The main problem with the 22-250 is lack of barrel twist to shoot the 22 cal heavier hunting bullets. A 55 grain SP would be near the top for dual purpose use. But I would highly not recommend a varmint style bullet for body shots on deer. I know many hunters who use a 22-250, but go for head and neck shots with it. The 60 grain Partitions and 64 grain Nosler bonded bullets are right on the edge igf they will work or not on the 22-250. I wouldn't recommend it for deer or pigs. It puts you at a disadvantage with that caliber, IMO.

The best all around bullet I’ve found is the 45gr TSX. I can’t think of a deer, hog, or coyote that’s taken a step when hit with this screamer in the last 3 years. It leaves a quarter sized exit hole on whatever you’re shooting. I’ve only recovered one. It ran down the spine after breaking his neck. It was flat and maintained weight.

65 grain Sierra Gamekings over 34.3 grains of varget or 75 grain Hornady ELD M over 32 grains of varget. Nosler is coming out with a 70 grain Accubond soon and I'll give those a try. Rifle is a Tikka T3 1:8 twist.

I've been shooting deer for years with a 22-250 right behind the shoulder and never had one go over 50 yards. I want to work up a high velocity load with a light bullet. I understand the barrel twist issue and the need for a lighter bullet with said load.

What I was thinking for deer and pigs. Try it over a near max load of RL-15 and you’ll like the results. From memory I Beleive mine likes 37.5gr of 15. I think that bullet flattens right when it hits because the entrance holes are big as well on deer and hogs, coyotes just the exit.

75 gr sirocco. Killed game that most would be considered significantly under gunned using that pill in a 22-6 ai.

i have a savage (12 twist) 22-250 and it really likes the 64 grain varmint bullets, don't shoot deer with it, but if i did i use either the sierra 55 or or 65 game king.

My absolute favorite bullet in my 22-250 is the 60 gr. Hornady HP. Works on everything up to deer but I use it for what it was designed for, Coyotes and other varmints.

the good thing about the 22-250 is that it will shoot just about any bullet 45-55 grains lights out.

My 2 22-250 rifles both with 1 in 14 twisted barrels shoot 60 to 70 grain flat based bullets very well.
