I know we beat this up with the A-max

has anyone killed deer with the ELDM in their 6.5 Creedmoor?

I'm asking because I helped my BIL sight in his new Browning Hells Canyon Long Range 6.5 Creedmoor yesterday. dang thing almost shot this factory load into a half inch

My son has the same rifle Buzz and my best 3 shot group with the 120g ELD-M was .25 inches & the 140g was .75 inches. The 143g ELDX was 1.25 inches. All of the bad press on the ELDM for taking game that I read online made me make him shoot his buck w/ the 143g ELDX.

I would love to know the same. Any real world experi nice from anyone?

Are they similar in construction to the Amax? If so, I killed several deer and a lot of pigs with the Amax.

I shot 2 pigs with them out of my 260 and wasn't impressed. Had to shoot them both twice at close range after tracking them down.

They charge 8$ a box for shipping and handling. I just tried to order 3 boxes and the shipping was $24.99. No way.

Ammo Freedom is $92 shipped for 3 boxes. Pretty decent. Bud's is $270 for a case of 10 with free shipping. I'd go halves on a case but I'm in Lubbock.

They seem to group OK at 100:

My son shot this nice muley buck this past November with his Tikka 260 CTR. The only factory ammo he could find locally was the Hornady Match 130 ELDM. Not sure I would have recommended this as hunting ammo, but I couldn't argue with the results, one shot, 200 yds.

This is the quarter sized exit hole, right behind the shoulder.

I recommend Chads 140 gr. Amax. Why spend more when you don't have to?

They group really well and put the smackdown on what they hit just like my 308 Amax I get from Chad.

I'd be as much or more concerned about how these match/high BC "hunting" bullets perform at ranges under 100 yds opposed to 500. I killed my big muley last year at a whopping 40 yds, and was glad I had an accubond and not a VLD.

143 EDLX has worked great for pigs and deer out of my 6.5 at all sorts of ranges

My stepson shot a blackbuck doe two weekends ago with my 6.5 CM and 143 grain ELD-X ammo. Shot was approximately 75 yards. Pass through shot with massive internal damage. Lung shot, and doe went around 50 yards with a blood trail a blind guy could follow.

What did the exit hole look like? My Tikka 6.5 loves 'em BTW.

I've shot a dozen pigs, a few deer and one elk with the eld-m. All did a perfect job and all the critters dropped where they stood.

I chronographed both the factory Hornady 140 BTHP ammo and the 143 ELD-X ammo in a customers rifle last Friday (to get a "custom" turret-
don't get me started!!!) One ran 2540 fps and the other ran 2560 fps. One the box is stamped 2700 fps for both bullets. Both had 50+ fps extreme spread. My customer was upset about this. I told him that was factory ammo for you. Why is this important?

1- The high extreme spread is due to a varying powder charge inside.

2- The velocity is often off, because they load it down on the lower accuracy node, not the higher node.

3- You trajectory data will be off by about 150 fps, which is a lot in the world of long range shooting.

I load my ammo with powder charges accurate to .02 grains, which is to the kernel of gun powder. This will give you easily sub 20 fps extreme spread for very consistent ammunition from shot to shot. And by loading the charges this consistent, and knowing exactly how much powder is inside the case, my velocity calculation will be near exact, not off by 150+ fps. My ammo with the same bullet is 200 fps faster than the factory ammo.

Yes, the ELD-M will kill just fine. It's similar to the tried and true A-max. And the A-max is one of the best dual purpose bullets available. (Dual purpose for target/match shooting and hunting)

This is super insightful. Thanks for sharing.

Chad’s 308 Amax did the job twice a couple of weeks ago.
