I have a photon on my AR but was wanting a red dot scope to put on this 45 degree mount.

Any recommendations?

Personally I'm a fan of the Vortex Sparq II, but I think you'll want something smaller like a micro red dot. Vortex also makes the Venom which is probably what you're looking for.

Been very happy with my Bushnell trs-25 and hey are cheap. Without a doubt the best $50 sight you can buy. But if you’ve got more to spend, there are a lot of options.

Been very happy with my Burris Fast Fire 3. Wish I would’ve bought the smaller dot, but live and learn

I’ve never owned a Sightmark but sold them. They had a habit of working for 3-6 months and then the illumination would crap out. There are a number of brands like that.

Vortex Strikefire II. Comes in a couple different models and if you look hard enough you can find it fairly cheap.

You get what you pay for, you’ll be disappointed with the air soft crap if you actually want to use it.

The Photon is the only Sightmark product I would ever consider purchasing. Everything else is of dubious reliablity. If you want a budget micro red dot look at the Burris Fast Fire or one of the Vortex offerings. If you don't mind the weight the Bushnell TRS25 is a decent budget offering, as are Holosun and Primary Arms. Bear in mind I would not trust my life to any of those.

for fun or serious use?

assuming fun given your pricepoint objective.

I put one of these on my 10/22 a few months back, felt silly having an Aimpoint T1 on it which got moved to a more "serious" AR

It's a nice little red dot..

There is a company based out of Houston who's name escapes me at the minute that gets good feedback on red dot chinese clones..
