Looking to get my first custom knife.

I want simple but effective.....function over aesthetics. As a matter of fact many of the “fancy/tricked out” knives are quite ugly to me.

This will be for skinning and quartering deer and hogs.

I want a mesquite handle and a hard(stay sharp) blade. Damascus is pretty but I do not care about pretty unless it has a sharpness retention advantage.

I am completely ignorant as far as shapes and styles.....if I can see some examples, I could pick a design that I would like.

Anyone willing to point me in the right direction for a maker?

Where do I begin?

Not looking to spend more than $200

I like the shape of this knife
