I realize I am likely going to get a lot of criticism for this question, but does anyone know the legitimacy of the non-resident hand gun license for the state of Virginia working in Texas? I have an option to take the Texas CHL class in June for cheaper and would like to do that. But until then, I would like to be able to carry. Have y'all heard of this? What do y'all think?

I have the VA non resident license. and yes Texas does accept it. I sent in all the paperwork with a copy of my gun safety which they accepted. Pretty easy. ONly thing is they are about 3-6 months behind on getting it back to you with the influx of people doing it.

What are Utah's requirements for a non resident What do you mean? Does Utah offer a non resident? Or will Utah honor Virginia's non resident?

ONly thing is they are about 3-6 months behind on getting it back to you with the influx of people doing it. We are trying to get a bill through to fix that right now. But with our current governor it will probably get vetoed if it makes it to his desk.

I have a Florida Non-resident that I picked up a year prior to getting my TX CHL (LTC). It was far cheaper, lasted more years, wasn't linked to my DL, and turn around was super quick. Carried to the State Fair, traveled with it, just know the laws. I did miss out on the ease of buying a firearm. Ended up getting a hold (who the hell knows why) on, of all things, a CCW pistol I was buying for my wife as a gift. Three weeks later we were both sitting in the TX CHL class. Now its more of a novelty to have.
My 2cents, if you live in Texas, get a Texas.

If you ever have to defend yourself, you will be well served to have the cert from the home state. There are so many classes and one stop shopping providers that you should have no problem.

As long as Texas recognizes it you are well served.....plain and simple. so many states are recognizing each others these days.
