Looking to replace existing fence and enclose driveway with solar powered sliding gate.
Anyone done that? Good contractor to build a gate frame and install it?
Thanks in advance. DFW, North Irving

Yes. Best thing we ever did for the house/yard. Ours was done 10 years ago, and, of course, the company seems to be out of business. They were "DFW Fancy Fence". They built the frame on location. The unit you want is a Patriot RSL Solar. It's been pretty much trouble-free. I've replaced the battery twice in 10 years. Check with txshntr on here- he's a mod- he can probably refer you to a good company.

Don't mean to hijack. Which is a better option, sliding or swing?

I'd prefer slide, more compact

A sliding can be more secure. Just add enough travel to enter a stop.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

The only downside to our sliding gate is it locks up pretty good when we get ice/sleet/snow.. the chain doesn’t feed well through the motor when frozen.. Not real sure exactly how a swing functions, but would probably lean towards the sliding regardless due to space required and security..
