Pretty sure someone dumped this bird dog. She is just skin and bones. Anyone know what kind of dog she is? Going to try and find her a home. We have 4 dogs already and my dad just took in one that was dumped, so cant keep her.

I concur. Looks like a pointer. Never saw her tail.

If the rescue can’t take her in. Let me know ASAP. I’ll bring her to my home.

that dog doesn't look like skin and bones to me. it looks like an English pointer that's had a hell of a quail season so far. there might be an owner looking for their long ranging bird dog. look at the muscles. looks like a good working dog to me.

That's picture doesn't show very well. Ive seen skinny bird dogs but she is just a skeleton with hide over it. She doesn't belong to anyone in this area and had no collar or chip. Ive posted in a lot of the local facebook groups about her and will be putting a notice up at the feed store today. I'm pretty positive she was dumped though.

That's a shame. Good luck with your efforts.

The GSP rescue has a foster home for her to get her back to health until they can find her a home but its in Fort Worth.

Anyone happen to be heading from east of Dallas towards Fort Worth?

If they put the word out, it shouldn't be that hard to get transport.
I foster for Cane Rosso Rescue, and we regularly find rides all across the state.
I have a short term foster traveling from Houston, to Dallas this morning.

If you pm me more info, I'll share it.

I ran into one of the GSP rescue board members, and he hunts over his rescue dog.
Some of the rescue groups are against it, but others aren't. Most of the dogs we get into rescue, don't hunt. A good many were made gunshy by previous owners. If the dog has to be a hunter, I wouldn't go through a rescue. If you planned on keeping the dog either way, then I would.
I have a vizsla, through Vizsla Rescue of Texas that I hunt.
