I am heading North next week. I should be in San Angelo around 430 and Big Spring at 6 or so. Any good place to eat not far off 87 that will not have a long line and I don't have to worry about thieves breaking into my vehicle? I have been to San Angelo twice and never to Big Spring.

Before you get to San Angelo stop at Wall and eat at the Old Gin Steakhouse. You have to exit 87 and take the business route through "downtown" Wall to get there. Another place is the Old Eola School Restaurant and Brewery,, but it is out of your way, but if you choose it, when you get to Highway 83 at Eden head north on 83 until you get to FM 765 and head west until you get to Eola, the restaurant is north pf the FM about 500 feet. The FM will lead you into San Angelo.

Western Sky in San Angelo meets your criteria. Just east of 87 north side. Good steak house.

Thanks. The Western Sky looks like it will work. I am hoping to get out of here at noon so that may push me into Big Spring for dinner. I have never been there and the google restaurants do not look promising;

I worked in Big Srings a lot in past years, I ended up eating mostly at the TA truck stop north side on 87 if I did not grill something at my motel. I ate their soup and salad bar. Their buffet was popular with contractors and truckers with stronger stomachs but I recommend their soup bar. You are not that far from Lubbock if you are going through here, many choices.

There's a couple of places off the nth service road going west in Big Spring. KC Steak house and the Cajun food place. Before that is Red Mesa on the east side of 87 just as you go over the 700 loop. Once you cross over the tracks on the north side there two good Mexican food places, Carlos's on the left and the Spanish Inn on the right. These are the ones the locals hit. If you want to try something a little more nostalgic just head to the tallest building in town, the Settles Hotel. Brent Ryan completely rebuilt it from top to bottom and he did it with style, great restaurant in there.

Looks like I will catch Hwy 380 in Brownfield and miss Lubbock.
