I have always been a Danner fan since I bought my first pair 17 years ago. I got 6 years out of my first pair but purchased my last pair in November. I walked a lot more miles every year in that first pair of Danners and have noticed the quality slipping on every subsequent pair. The pair I bought when Quail season started this year look like I’ve worn them for 25 years. I haven’t decided on my next brand yet but that’s the last $180 they’re getting out of me. Has anyone else noticed they’re not what they used to be.

Depends on what kind of use they will see. If its deer hunting in Texas they're plenty good but if its mountains they won't get any of my money.

When I was a kid I always hated hunting with wet boots. I think my dads spending limit on footwear was $12. I remember my first paycheck when I was 15 years old I bought a pair of Rocky Mountain boots for $80. They were great and I wore them down to nothing.
The Danners even failed to keep my feet dry last Friday. Friday night I sprayed several coats of waterproof on my old ones and tucked my jeans into them Sat morning. That did the job with my raingear over them.

I don’t know what they used to be, but I’ve seen enough from their recent offerings to avoid them.

Never owned any Danner boots, but I've put hundreds of miles on my Lowas and Salomons in snow, rain, mud etc and love them both. Never get wet and always very comfortable. I am on my 4th pair of Salomon X Ultra 2 GTX shoes and will continue buying them. Great do it all shoe. My Lowa Renegade GTX boots still have some life left in them but I'll be buying more Lowa boots in the future.

Bought a pair of pronghorns last year when gander mountain went out of business. This was my third pair and 3 or 4 times had to quit hunting for a little bit to pull out the cactus sometimes out in the field couldn’t even make it back to the truck. I also bought a pair of cabelas upland game boots right after first of the year on clearance. So far the have been very good and and hold up to the cactus.
