I've looked at the Seekins in 6.5 with the fluted barrel. It felt very light to me. IMO it wasn't worth the money they were asking as the finish on the stock was pretty rough. You could see that was where they cut corners. The action did seem nice and it was well balanced. But in that price range I'm digging a little deeper and calling Alamo, or just buying a Tikka and a nice optic.

Savage 12FV from Cabela's when they are on sale, minus the $100 rebate are $269. Get it in 6.5 Creedmore.
Buy Boyds AT1 Stock for $189
Take flimsy stock off and throw in trash.
Buy Wheeler barrel wrench $27
Take barrel off and sell for $150.
Buy Shilen Select Stainless Match Barrel $449
New parallel ground recoil lug $45
Rent Headspace Guage $7
Glass Bedding kit $30
Puts you at $866
Or just buy a Ruger Precision Rifle.

This. Then you can sell that 6.5 Creedmoor barrel for $75-$100 easy. Then spend 1000 on a scope.

Actually $110 cheaper, thanks for the tip.

This. Then you can sell that 6.5 Creedmoor barrel for $75-$100 easy. Then spend 1000 on a scope. I already had selling the original barrel in my calculations. Take off 6.5 Creedmore barrels are selling for $150-$175 on the Savage rifle forums. But with SCDogman's tip for a lower price on the same barrel we are still down to $766 for a good shooting rifle minus optics and mounts. If you are really tight on cash you could search around and find someone to borrow the barrel wrench and headspace gauges, reuse the stock recoil lug, and use some JB weld instead of a bedding kit. That would save you about another $100. But if you were that short on cash I'd say skip the barrel and shoot it with the factory barrel until you can save up some money. Spending $800 on scope and mounts gets the OP a really nice rifle for his $1,500 price point. If his $1,500 price point was just for the rifle and he was willing to spend more on glass then that just frees up more money for even better glass.
