Bought a 1983 75C (think Model 60 with a short 16.5" carbine barrel) with rust, etc. for a low price from a THF member.

It including a Bear Creek scope and tip off rings. Seller shipped before he even got my check in the mail (TX to TX deal). When it arrived it had a crack in the wrist and a piece broken off the trigger guard.

It wasn't worth shipping back or filing a $50.00 insurance claim with USPS so he tore up my check.

I have bubba-blued the barrel and mag tube and refinished the receiver (blurry pic but it's semi-gloss).

When the first replacement stock arrived, it was for an old model. Seller didn't want it back or to be paid because of the error. He was only going to charge me for shipping anyway. Found the proper stock in take off condition ten miles from here through Texas Hunting Forum for cheap. Found a sight set (rear leaf, elevator, front ramp, screw) for free through Texas Hunting Forum.

I treated the stock to the fastest type of refinish I know of. I used a Scotch-Brite soaked in rubbing alcohol to thin the original color then applied three coats of Tru-Oil. I installed the rear sight to block the dovetail. I left front sight off and plugged that hole with a threaded plug screw. Add a new trigger and low rings from MidwayUSA, plus a couple homemade remedies, and now it looks like this.

Thanks to those that stepped up to assist.

Pass the gravy.

Lots of good folks around here.

Good for you, for repairing a cabine that just needed some TLC.
