For all around work for mule deer, sheep/goat and elk/moose?

165 grain or 180 grain ?

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I'd say it depends on what bullet you choose. All 180s are not created equal, nor are 165s.

...and after further consideration, either a 180-grain Partition or a 165-grain Partition is what I'd choose. Leaning toward the 180.

I’d go heavy, regardless, but your range will make a difference as to which specific bullet. I’d probably shoot a Partition or Accubond for short to medium ranges. Beyond that, an ELD-X.

100-300 yards on 90% of shots

I think it’s going to be hard to beat an Accubond. It’s something you can stretch out there a ways when needed, but is a solid killing bullet. I use different bullets for different things, but for a serious western gun, like your .300, there’s no doubt I’d load up a heavy Accubond and never look back.

I hunt muledeer with a 150 gr Scirocco II. I've shot 5 MD with that bullet in ranges 80, 110, 225, 315, and 413. All ranges verified with a rangefinder. None of the deer required more than one shot. I like the 150 due to the flat shooting capabilities. I'm going to load ELD-X 172 gr for an elk hunt this year.

180 AB is a good one. I like heavier bullets in the WM, so a 200 ELD-X or the 212 ELD-X would be awesome. I've seen real good results on the 212 ELD-X out to 800 yards on game. A 190 or 210 VLD-H is bad medicine, also.

215 berger hybrid is another good option if you can stabilize it.

I was thinking accubonds as well.

Probably go that route.

Anyone have any experience with the hornady interbond superformance?

That 180 grain interbond is smoking fast

All I can tell you about the Superformance ammo is don’t believe the velocities on the box. Run it through a chrono and believe that. It’s been my experience that they don’t always match up.

180 would be the lightest. I loaded a friend's with 210 VLD-Hunting and he can't say enough good about it. First Berger he has ever run. But, it is in a Tikka, with a dang 22" barrel, and I've got him below 2900 MV, so there's that thing I've noticed of slowing down a Berger, a tad.

Point being, big cartridge, big bullet.

Really? I’ve never heard that I’ve always thought hornady was a pretty honest outfit.

Who am I kidding. I like to shoot too much. I would work up a 180 accubond load. Then a load with some 200+ Berger heavies. Then I would work up something with either Hornady or Sierra in the 165-168 for inexpensive low recoil range time and see just how fast I could push them. Then......

They seem to be, and I still think they’re awesome, but they don’t always get it right.

And I still use some SF ammo. It’s fine. It just didn’t have the added velocity they claimed. Other SF ammo might.

I agree on the 180 Accubond, it was my 2nd bullet I tried on the 300 Winny, after testing and tweaking, then I never looked back after shooting them at 3,175 fps and half inch 3 shot groups at 300 yards. It's an all around bullet in my application as a hunting load. My first bullet was the 212 ELD-X which is a great bullet, but did not have enough for further testing.
