I picked up a rusty Winchester 190 that I planned to refinish. My favorite 22 is the stainless marlin 60 and I thought it would be cool to have the 190 match. I have access to a bead blast cabinet but dont know the best way to treat the bare metal. What have y'all used in the past that worked well to stave off rust?

No experience with that, but I’d probably cerakote it in stainless

I would agree with the Cerakote if you want it to match a stainless gun.

If you decide to Cerakote it - Blast it and take it to Scalpel Arms in Farmers Branch. They do good work.
FYI - be REAL careful around the serial number.

Blast it with Aluminum Oxide, Degrease it, and spray it with Duracoat.

No to alumninum oxide, too hard. Use 60-80 grit crushed glass.

Blasted with 100 something glass bead. Dont want to spend the money to ceracoat duracoat ect. May just seal it with something. Looks good so far tho. Wood got a coat of dark walnut and first coat of poly.

You can probably spray it with krylon clear and be ok. Trinity ordnance does cerakote single color for $40 per part. Barreled action should count as 1 part.

Hit it with 3 coats of satin enamel. Blued the inner mag tube, but gotta redo the end where blue didn't take. In retrospect I should have blued the trigger.

That looks darned good.

If you're going to spray something on that bare steel to try to preserve it, blasting with glass beads is probably not the way to go. Glass beads smooth a surface too much and many spray-on finishes just won't adhere that well. Blasting with something that roughs that surface up is what you want.
