I personally can’t believe they “ganged” up on a calf but I guess anything is possible.

I have seen a kitten caught in chicken wire in Medina County. I have seen them very often on Medina Annex of Lackland and Camp Bullis in Bexar County. Of course the TPWL folks who spend most of their time behind a desk won’t believe their northern range.

I wish I had enough water for Nutria! Cam Pic was from Val Verde County. I figured good or bad someone needed to post a dang picture.

Janet called and told me that they were setting traps with bait stations all over a couple of sections of the ranch. I am more curious now than ever, wondering exactly what these biologists are looking for.

I'm curious what they are using for bait. Seems like the most logical choice would be a calf.

Janet said that they had another calf killed, they found part of the carcass and said it definitely wasn't a big cat or canine/coyote that was responsible. They put cameras on it this morning to see if something comes back to feed on it.

I can't help but think that whatever they are looking for may be long gone. They have introduced a lot of human activity into the area, including helicopters. Sounds like a sure way to run off an kind of elusive predator.

interesting, several Jaguarundi have been spotted around Longhorn Cavern recently which is in Central Texas, southern Burnet County. Great picture too.

About three years ago on the road 186 that connects Raymondville to 281, I saw one. I was driving westbound and saw it along a fence line slinking real low and slow. I first thought house cat but slowed down after I passed it. I thought it was the weirdest looking cat and thought it was a young Mountain Lion at first. I did a U turn and it stopped and looked at me. It then glanced as i was going slow and got into some brush. It was close to the former Navy/Coast Guard LORAN station.

True they have Ocelot stations here as well. There hasn't been a documented sighting since the 80's and their historic range topped out just north of the river , but seems loads of people claim to have seen one all over the state, just isn't happening.

I've seen two, one of the Gary Morgan Ranch in South Texas, the other one of my leases in Mexico. The first I saw was around 1993 ish. I was in the truck with Gary Morgan, owner of the Ranch and one ran across the road. We both got a good look, it had to be a large mature adult.

The second one was on one of my leases in Mexico and I can't remember which one. I had 4 or 5 back when I hunted down there. It was a more than likley a juvinile. It was also a lot darker than the first one I saw a few years before.

I would have loved for one of the guys on the lease to have seen it, I could have convinced him it was a baby black panther...........it would have been fun.

I've seen one about 13 years ago, they are not big. Your friend is either telling you a big story or he actually has lion problem.
