I'm hunting on land that borders the red river for quail....I was in town at the store and talking to a guy said he was a pig hunter and that he had hunted that property as well and I said, you have the deer lease and he said nope that he just hunted the property for pigs. So come to find out he said anyone can hunt the red river from fence post to fence post......never heard that before and was wondering if true! I can't find any info on line. Thanks

The permanent vegetation line is the border on the Texas side upstream of Texoma, at least in Cooke Co. That would be the cutbank with the trees on it.
Downstream I believe the middle of the river is the border, but could be wrong on that.
The hunting and fishing booklet addresses this in the fishing license section somewhere.

Ah, perhaps because that section is an atv allowed use riverbed you can also hunt it from the fenceline to fenceline.
Just guessing here.

I hunted thr Red River for ducks years ago. Never had a problem.
