Curious of people's impressions of the Burris XTRii 5-25x....trying to use it on a combo hunting/some long range shooting 6.5 Creedmoor Tikka CTR. Anyone have experience with them. Burris has $200 off instant rebate and can get an additional 10% off so for roughly $930. Had been considering the Nikon Black x1000 but feeling with the discount on the Burris it may be worth the jump.

Other than weight I don’t think there’s much downside

It is not the lightest scope for sure. Only downside I have found though.

34 mm tube sucks with the weight. The scr reticle is very fine if you hunt

The scr reticle is very fine if you hunt That's where the illuminated reticle comes in handy. I have the G2B reticle and have still used the illumination to shoot pigs after during deer season when they came in after 1800 hrs.
No doubt about the AR crap, just damn shame hunters don't have self control and knowledge

I have both the 3-15 and the 5-25. I remember you saying the primary purpose of the rifle was hunting. Knowing that I would recommend the 3-15. You get a sharper image at full power with the 3-15 and the ability to hunt closer distances if needed. The 5 power minimum would not be ideal for closer distance hunting. It also is pushing the limits of the scope at 25 power. Not as sharp of image. If you wanted more than 15 power I would get the 4-20. I had no problem shooting steel to 700 yards with my 6.8 at Fireman JGs range with the 3-15. I could see the 800 yard target no problem, just not enough BC at that distance to get any consistentcy.

I agree with this. Stick with the 3-15 or 4-20 in the XTR lineup.

I have the 5-25 on my Tikka CTR 260 Rem. I love it. For the money, it is hard to beat.
God bless John Wayne!

If you have the budget, I recommend spending a little bit more and get the Nightforce SHV. I have both the SHV and the XTRII and the glass is noticeably better on the Nightforce. I do like the adjustments better on the Burris and you get more vertical adjustment if you're shooting "way out yonder," but it's hard to give up on that Nightforce glass. My XTRII setup And my SHV setup
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.
