Some here may remember that I posted a pic of a piece of wood that I found on a deer lease around 20 years ago.

Well I finally decided to use it on a rustic blade that I recently made from a Nicholson file.
I like the way it turned out!

That's really pretty. Ever figure out what kind of wood it might be?

I have no idea. I've searched on Google but can't find anything that matches this.

Never could get a positive identification of what kind of wood it is. It has to be some kind of twisted vine. I found it in an live oak mott in schleicher county texas about 20 years ago.
I'm working on orders for two more knives with this wood and having enough to do any additional knives is doubtful. The piece that I picked up was of a small diameter on both ends and got bigger toward the middle.

Guys I'm going on a week long hog/varmit hunt in March near Carrizo Springs with a bunch of old guys from all over the country. I bought this knife from Mike to give to whomever wins one of the contest we will have that week. Some lucky guy will be very happy with their prize I'm sure. Mike makes a quality knife that any sportsman would be proud to own and carry!
