I’ve owned and shot rifles from 22 to 458, and have enjoyed most every one of them. But, for some unknown reason, I’ve never cared for 30-06. Fully appreciate and respect what it can do, even own 2 of them right now, but I just can’t quite put my finger on why I am not particularly fond of the ‘06. Anybody else have a caliber they just don’t like?

I know exactly what you mean. There’s nothing wrong with them, they just don’t do it for me.

I used to be highly interested in both, but that’s quickly fading, and for the same reasons as you, I suspect.

I agree that the 30-06 is a good caliber but does not excite me as well.

22LR. Qualifying for the Boy Scouts merit badge using crappy 22LR rifles that were poorly maintained and not properly zeroed has biased me against that caliber for life.

Man, they've made drastic improvements over the years. BIL had his Kidd .22 lr with a suppressor and scope installed. Talk about a good time, shooting that!

It’s hard to justify it, but it’s just there. I stopped shooting the 458 and 416 because of costs- both in terms of financial and pain. The ‘06s I have now are wonderful guns- one is a Kimber 84L with gorgeous wood, the other is a custom built on an 03-A3 by a good friend with even more gorgeous wood, but there they sit, forlorn and under appreciated.

I've never had an issue with any caliber. It's synthetic stocks that turn me off, the exception being those on ARs.

.338 Win.

I shoot other larger calibers just fine but for some reason this one gets me all shook. I think is has to do with first shooting it in a too-light-for-caliber Ruger no. 1.

Any magnum caliber rifles. They just don't really do anything for me. Only magnum I enjoyed shooting was a full custom 7mag long range rig.

Anything bigger than a mid-.30 caliber. Not into the .300 Magnums, .338s, .375s, or the like. If I lived in bear country, I would probably feel different; but I just can't get excited about anything that punishes me unnecessarily...

Good thread. I have already enjoyed seeing what others say and why. Look forward to more.

6.5 Creedmoor. Just because it’s so wildly popular.

.270 and 6.5 Creedmoor. Also not much into magnum anything.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Me neither. Takes too much powder and recoil for modest gains in velocity.
