Anyone using those redneck tpost gravity feeders? I want to put a couple near my bow tripod spot with some double down. Do you thing the hogs will be able to reach them if I put the feed port about 36" up? I don't want to put a pen around it

Yes. They don't climb over 36 inches but they certainly will chew on it, pull on it and try to bring it down at that height.

A mature pig will make quick work out of them, on their hind legs they can reach well over 36" and flat tear that up.

I'm pretty sure it would be on the ground within a week at our place. It would probably work ok if you strapped it to a tree.

By the time you get it high enough to where the pigs can't reach it, guess what neither can the deer without great strain.

Pigs. squirrels. raccoons, possum...

go buy some PVC pipe and make your own at a fraction of the cost...

This. If your dead set on one of those feeders...... make a home made one and start at 48" off the ground AND attach it to a large tree. Hogs will lay a T-post over and destroy that feeder and it probably will take less than a week.

When I put up my protein feeder I had to come back a week later and finish the feed pen..... a large boar had already found the feeder and damaged it a little. The spout is 40" off the ground and he walk right up to it and ate out of it. Like I said...... I would start at 48" but like stub said you probably can't get it high enough and the deer still be able to eat out of it.

Went and found a pic of it, that was after 6 days.

I bought mine over the summer and it worked great until the hogs figured out how to get the corn out. With just the deer eating it, two sacks will last a full month. With the hogs, it will run out in a couple of days!!! I had two 6ft t posts in the ground already for a previous feeder that didn't work out, so I used them at first. Once the hogs took over, I bought an 8ft t post and placed it so the 6 footers would block the opening. The deer can easily get through it and feed, but the hogs are blocked. This is working out very well for me, and I plan on keeping it full year round.

I've got a couple of pvc feeders as a little extra around one of my stands. They're both at about 36" at the portal. No hog issues at all. Deer use them often.

I may have the last land in Texas that doesn't have a hog problem, but what I can tell you is this... I made one of the PVC pipe feeders like this and had some of the happiest (and fattest) coons in the county.

Set it up in an area that I know had deer with a game camera. Never saw a deer eating at it, but coons, coons and more coons.

I tried making one out of 4 inch PVC and couldn't keep the rain out of the feeding area, or get it to drain fast enough to stay dry and not clog up. Then I tried making one out of wood with a big metal roof to keep everything dry, which also didn't work very well. So I bought the Redneck feeder and it's been very good!! Funny how the little things are so hard to figure out. They did a good job in how it's designed, and for what it costs, it's a no brainer.
