I stuck a case in my RCBS 243 sizing die. I’ve already drilled it pretty big trying to get it to thread. I tried to thread it with a bolt:(...I know, stupid...
What can I do now? Get a big tap and thread it for a big bolt and tighten it out?
Also I’ve bent the case with vice grips. Pretty much ruined everything maybe.
What can I try?

Use 1/4 x 20 all thread. Put a long piece (about 5 inches) in the brass and then use a needle gun to fill the case 1/2 full of slow epoxy. Pull with nuts and washers
or Tap to 5/16 x 18 and use all thread. Screw the all thread into case and use nuts and washer to pull case out.
I always use all thread because you are putting pressure on nuts instead of brass thread in case. Make sure you use correct size drill bit for threads

Die fixed in a vise, primer pocket up. 1/4" x 20 tap into the primer pocket. 1/2" washers stacked up around the brass, and stack above the end of the brass. Long 1/4" bolt and run a nut on it first followed by a 1/4" flat washer. Screw the bolt into the primer pocket until it stops. Run the 1/4" washer down and the nut. Hold the bolt with a wrench, turn the nut with a second wrench. Case gets pulled out against the stack of 1/2" washers.

I watched a video of someone doing this. I might have drilled it too large already. Hope it works:)

If you went beyond 3/16" drilling in the primer pocket, use a 5/16" tap, and corresponding bolt/ nut.

Thanks. I’ll check to see what taps I have and I may buy the one I need if I don’t have it. I’ll let y’all know when I get it out. Since I don’t have a vice I saw I can screw it in upside down in the press.

Since I don’t have a vice I saw I can screw it in upside down in the press. Yep. Screw it in upside down. I have the Hornady press so I just flip the adapter around and insert upside down. I had a tap already so I just drilled and tapped it, then use whatever I pick up for spacers. Sockets, washers, nuts, whatever. Need to just throw away my Hornady spray lube. It sucks.

My money is on hornady one shot. Yep. Hornady One Shot. I have some RCBS Lube and a lube pad. I’ll be using that next after I get the darn case out.

No, hornady one shot should be called one big a$$ shot, because you need a lot of it to lube the case. It's a great case lube and is what I use. But most stuck cases are from not spraying enough of it, and not evenly on all sides. Spray the cases from about a 45 degree angle and from all 4 sides. If you have too much lube, them watch for dents in the shoulder as you size. Also, let it dry for a few minutes before you size.

I think my issue was I didn’t let it dry. Was still wet when I was sizing. Should it be smooth stroke when sizing or should it seem like it’s sticking on the stroke? All strokes seemed to stick but I was able to push through it and they sized until the stick one:(.
I wish I had someone knowing what they are doing to give me help while I’m sizing.
Anyone around Wilson county want to help a new reloaded one weekend?

Yes, the lube must be dry. Spray a tiny amount up inside your die before you put it in the press. Then spray your cases down, then spend the extra time setting up your die while they dry. Sizing should be a smooth process.

And if you feel resistance, don't force it. The lube works best dry.

Thanks.
Last time I noticed it was sticking and I kept using it. Then I had to cook. Came back and it was easy to size. I just figured they had more lube. I’ll let it dry next time completely.
I think I’ll use the one shot one more time before I switch to my RCBS lube and pad since that’s completely new to me. Try to get the one shot working.
How can I clean my dies? Carb cleaner?

Chad beat me to it but I was gonna say I spray some in my die before I start. It helps tremendously.

MM, you've got it right. Let it dry and you'll be GTG. The one shot is good stuff and much less messy. To clean my dies, I'll take them apart and I use a carb cleaner on a Q tip, then use a dry Q tip. Brake cleaner works also. Keep the dies clean and spray a little lube inside and let it dry also. Just a quick hit. The dies will last a long time without getting scratched.

Thanks. I’ll get some carb cleaner tomorrow. Can I lube my cases and dies days before resizing? Does the lube go away after a few days?

The lube will gum up if it sits. I sprayed some cases once and didn't get to size them. A day or two later, they were gummy and sticky, so I just ran them through the tumbler again and started over. I wouldn't recommend spraying them until ready to size. Just wait about 3-4 minutes and they will be dry. When I'm impatient (a few times!!), I've taken an air compressor to the cases to help speed up the drying.

Broke a case holder when I first started reloading because I did not use enough.

Imperial Sizing Wax is the only lube that I'll use. I've never had a stuck case since I started using it years ago. I can't say that with other case lubes!
