WOW!!! 3100fps in a 308, that's... unbelievable.

It's cause it is!!! I'm running a 185 Berger Hybrid at 2742 fps in a 28" barrel. I got it up to around 2760 or 2770 at pressure. Add 2" of barrel, and that's about 50 fps for 2820 fps. That's 280 fps faster. No way, Jose! But... it may be because he's using Lapua Winchester brass.

I'm gonna get some of that stuff, Santa, Easter bunny, somebody can hook me up. Ordered a new barrel yesterday at 27 inches and planned to have it finished at 24. After reading that, think I'll weld at least 3 more inches to that 27 so I too can reach...unbelievable velocities. I'm so excited!!!
185 grains in a 308 at 3100, that's cooking, cooking someones face.

Many years ago I had a 50 BMG case that was primed and I wanted to make something else out of it. I put it in a padded vise and decided to just tap the primer with a punch to "pop" it. It set the primer off just fine and after I got the pieces out of my thumb I decided maybe I should have taken a different approach. It turned the end of my thumb numb and blackened it up so at least the pain wasn't as bad as it could have been.

When I was about nine or ten years old I snagged one of my uncle's rifle primers, set it on the concrete in the carport, and hit it with a hammer. I never was tempted to do that again.
