We need a standard for this. Maybe 5 shots, and 2 minutes, if it ain't hit in 5 attempts, it doesn't count.

My thoughts is that would turn it into a game of luck. No way you can get all the wind right etc. for a 3 mile shot with a 14 second time of flight.

he did it in 8 shots, the other guy I think 20ish, doesn't count for me either, funky rifle set up, the scopes are mounted about 1 ft. above the bore line. Very game specific equipment.

I cant post the article, it was on facebook, but I guess you could google it

When stretching the limits of any bullet, or even shooting anything in variable winds (like today) the key is a very fast follow-up shot when you see the miss. Even then, with all that flight time, and terrain changes as well as foliage, there is indeed some luck.

But all a guy can control is cartridge to cartridge loading all be exactly the same. Good form, an observant eye, and the ability to get a corrected shot out quickly, hoping the correction is still appropriate.

I’ve never met him, but heard a lot about him. Supposed to be an amazing blacksmith, too.

Him hitting that target at 3 miles in 8 shots is like me hitting a can at 100 yds with a sling shot lol. Lots of luck involved. If he could do it in 3 shots now I’d be impressed bc it would be obvious he knew the corrections made them and got the hit rather than just an educated guess. Regardless though still a cool accomplishment I guess.

The approach the used for the elr world record thing before shot this week was pretty solid imo. First target was at a mile secong at 2100ish and third was close 3000 if I remember. Strings were done it shots of 3 and a cold bore setup no sighters. If you made it to round 2 for the second target it was another 3 shots but like 4hrs later.

David Tubb's son-in-law went 3 for 3 on the first 2 targets in like 12mph winds which imo was extremely impressive.

I could make that in 2 shots with the same set up. Only difference would be I use a lot bigger target. hammer

Unless my math is wrong, that's an average velocity of 1131 FPS. That's got to be hard to make wind adjustments. If he did it in 8, I'm really impressed. If it were me, it'd be that broad side of a barn thing.

It is Buzz you should get one. Hill Country Rifles builds them and they are working on an upgraded version of the 375 for better performance at 2 miles. If you order now you will be ready for THF Tactical Match.

I agree there should be a standard. There should also be a standard target size. Looks like the target he hit was pretty monstrous, unless I'm just confused?
