Come January 1, ammo purchased online can’t be delivered to your doorstep. It will have to be shipped to a licensed dealer that has been approved by the Department of Justice.

But dealers are still waiting for the DOJ to release its exact guidelines on who can supply ammo.

“We are waiting for them to give us the when, where and how,” said Kevin Yost, manager of Guns, Fishing and Other Things. “It’s a big unknown circle right now that we would love to have the answer to and hope to get it really soon.”

Smaller mom-and-pop retailers may stop selling ammunition altogether because of the process of getting DOJ consent.

Time to hit the Reno gun show and places like that to stock up now and then. I doubt Nevada will take the same route as Kalifornia.

This is their ultimate desire for all dealers in California.....and the left will never give up on going after all guns in civilian hands....

Is this the Cali DOJ or the United States Dept of Justice? Why would anyone live there?

Pretty sad when the pro-gun folks don't get out and vote. Then they want everybody to feel sorry for them when new laws get added to the books. Boo Hoo Hoo!

I may be mistaken but ammo cannot be brought in to the state.

California checks at it's borders for fruits and veggies, but as far as ammo, I don't think it's on the list for the border checks....yet. They don't seem able to keep the fruits out, so they probably won't be too successful with ammo either.

Old Stony...

Importing ammunition – Purchasing ammunition out of state and then returning to California runs the risk of carrying a misdemeanor charge of transporting ammo across state lines.

I also read elsewhere (which I can no longer find) that there was the possibility of CA posting agents at gun shows in AZ, NV, OR near the borders to watch for CA residents buying and transporting back to CA like you suggested. Sounds pretty far fetched to me but I suppose it could happen.

Nothing is far fetched with them. My buddy does hardwood flooring...it is against the law to buy wood stain in anything bigger than a quart size can. If you get caught bringing in stain in gallon cans you get big fines. Insanity!

Nope...no sanity left out there. I have been working on building a rock fire ring in my back yard, to sit around and cook hotdogs and marshmallows, etc...on. I was thinking about California and what they would do to you if caught using something like that. A lot of the cities there regulate which days you can even use your fireplace. Even if you could, a cord of firewood can cost you between 300-500 bucks for something like oak.

Besides.....to many back roads and the odds of being stopped on the interstate are slim to none......
